Targeted Shooting in Langley Leaves One Dead, Victim Identified

Langley, BC – The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has taken conduct of a homicide investigation as a result of an overnight shooting in Langley.

On December 7, 2017, just after 10:30 p.m., the Langley RCMP responded to reports of shots fired in a townhouse complex in the 8100 block of 204 Street. Police found a male victim laying in a backyard with gunshot wounds. He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) is working closely with its partners from the Langley RCMP, the Integrated Forensic Identification Section and the B.C. Coroner’s Service to gather evidence.

In order to further the ongoing homicide investigation, investigators are confirming 21-year-old Dai Duong Duong of Abbotsford was the victim of homicide. Mr. Duong was known to police and associated to gang activity. It is early in the investigation but investigators believe Mr. Duong’s murder was targeted and linked to other gang violence in the Lower Mainland.

“We are asking that any witnesses to the event that have not yet spoken to police, please contact IHIT.” Cpl. Frank Jang of IHIT says, “There are people who knew Mr. Duong that may have information that could help us solve his murder. I urge these individuals to come forward and speak with IHIT.”
