Grande Prairie, Alberta: RCMP are reminding the public to slow down and drive with caution due to snow and icy road conditions. Please travel only if it’s necessary.
Rural highways are covered in snow drifts and drivers are experiencing white-out conditions. In particular, Highway 43 westbound toward Beaverlodge, Highway 674 and Highway 733. All three highways are currently experiencing heavily backed up traffic due to various vehicle collisions.
If you must be on the road, drivers are advised to remember the following:
- Keep your vehicle, especially windows and mirrors, clear of snow and ice.
- Drive with your headlights on.
- Avoid sudden moves.
- Leave enough room between you and the vehicle you are following.
- Slow down and adjust your driving to the changing environment and road conditions.
