Airdrie, Alberta– Airdrie RCMP have arrested and charged an Airdrie male whom was initially causing a disturbance at the Hi Ho Gas & Grocery located on Meadowbrook Drive in Airdrie.
On Sunday, Feb. 18, 2017 at approximately 4:50 pm, Airdrie RCMP were called to the area of East Lake Boulevard and Meadowbrook Drive with reports of a male jumping up and down and yelling in the middle of the street. The male was reportedly disrupting traffic and also a safety concern.
Upon arriving in the area, Airdrie RCMP located the male in the bathroom at Hi Ho Gas & Grocery where he was showing signs of abnormal behaviour. RCMP believed the male to be impaired by some sort of drug or alcohol. While talking with the male, in an attempt to identify him and find out if he had consumed any intoxicants, he became agitated and was subsequently placed under arrest. The male was brought to the ground where he began to kick his feet at officers while refusing to place his hands behind his back. Additional RCMP officers on scene assisted in the arrest as the male was not complying with police commands. The male was eventually restrained, handcuffed, and transported back to the Airdrie RCMP Detachment.
An RCMP officer sustained minor injuries to his hand during the altercation.
A 21-year-old male from Airdrie has been charged with:
- Resisting a Peace Officer
- Causing a disturbance
- Possession of a controlled substance
