Desmarais, Alberta – The “K” Division Crime Reduction Strategy, which is a targeted, evidence based approach to policing enables police to identify repeat offenders, conduct targeted enforcement initiatives and to address the root cause of crimes.
On March 16, 2018 while pro-actively attending residences on a warrant round up, Desmarais RCMP arrested a female and laid several Criminal Code charges.
Police pulled into a residence and located a vehicle in the driveway with several occupants. The driver of the vehicle provided a false name and was arrested for Obstruction. Upon search of the female police located some methamphetamine.
The vehicle was towed and upon execution of a warrant to search police located cocaine (18g), methamphetamine, and money inside. The drugs were individually packaged in small bags.
Vanessa Lynn Gladue, a 33-year-old from Slave Lake was charged with:
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Methamphetamine
- Trafficking in property obtained by crime
- Identity fraud
She was released after a judicial hearing with conditions and will be attending Slave Lake Provincial Court on April 12, 2018.
