Taber RCMP – Highways reopened, flooding still a concern – Taber, Alberta – Flood waters have dropped overnight allowing for Highway 36 and 864 to be reopened. There is the potential for water levels to rise again as the temperature increases and more snow melts, causing runoff to take place. Crews are monitoring the situation and will close roads again if necessary. Motorists should be prepared for additional closures and obey signage and emergency crews at the affected areas.
Taber, Alberta – (10:58 pm) Overland flooding has led to another highway closure in the Taber area. Highway 864 is now also closed in addition to Highway 36 north of the Oldman River.
Motorists are asked to obey signage and highway crews in the area. There is no estimate when the closures will be lifted.
Taber, Alberta – (7:11 PM) Taber RCMP are advising motorists of the closure of Highway 36, north of the Old Man River. Overland flooding has covered over a portion of Hwy 36 resulting in the road being impassable.
Crews are on site re-directing traffic. Highway 864 is a suggested detour for motorists needing to travel through the area. There is no anticipated time line of when the highway will re-open.
