Grande Prairie RCMP Arrest Male Following Firearms Complaint
Grande Prairie, Alberta – Grande Prairie RCMP responded to a complaint of a male with a firearm in the parking lot of the Silver Crest Lodge early this morning.
At approximately 7:30 a.m. Grande Prairie RCMP responded to a complaint of a male with a firearm in the parking lot of the Silver Crest Lodge. The male had earlier been involved in an incident with the occupants of a vehicle, in which he smashed the driver side window. When police arrived on scene a single gun shot was heard from the west side of the parking lot. Police entered the parking lot and identified a male matching the description of the suspect. He did not have any firearms in his possession at this time. Police attempted to arrest the male at which time he became combative with the officers before being taken into custody. Police learned from witnesses that the male had fired a single shot from a shotgun into a vehicle that he had stolen earlier and driven to the Silver Crest Lodge. There were no injuries as a result of the firearm being discharged. Police seized an assault rifle and a shotgun at the scene. A 28-year-old male from Grande Prairie is facing several charges.
Police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the occupants of the vehicle in the attached picture. Police believe the vehicle is a Dodge Nitro and has damage to the rear and driver side windows.
