Beach Point, Prince Edward Island – The fishing boat collision this past Saturday involving two fishing boats approximately nine kilometres off southeastern P.E.I., is still under investigation.
At the time of the collision, police, paramedics and firefighters, as well as officials from Department of Fisheries and Oceans, Transport Canada, Occupational Health and Safety, Provincial Coroner’s Office, victims services and the Canadian Coast Guard, were at the Beach Point wharf near Murray Harbour.
Details about how the collision occurred are still being gathered in order to determine exactly what happened and why.
RCMP extend sincere condolences to the families of the deceased and those still coping with the collision and thank all first responders, officials and many fellow fishers and community members that assisted at the scene. More information will be available once confirmed.
