Edmonton Police seek public’s assistance locating robbery suspect

Edmonton, Alberta – The Edmonton Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance locating a 31-year-old man who was reportedly involved in a personal robbery earlier this week.

On Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at approximately 2 p.m., police responded to the report of a personal robbery in the area of 91 Avenue and 182 Street. It was reported to police that a 33-year-old male complainant met another male in the area to sell an item of jewelry that he had posted on a local Facebook buy and sell group. During the meeting, the male suspect allegedly produced a firearm, threatened the complainant, stole his jewelry and fled the area on foot.

Following a thorough investigation, officers have identified Shane Michael Loyer, 31, as the suspect in the alleged robbery and have issued nine province-wide warrants for his arrest, including robbery with a firearm, possession of an offensive weapon dangerous to the public and uttering threats.

Loyer is described as 5’6” tall, with a medium build and short, dark hair. He was last seen wearing shorts, a long-sleeved, collared shirt and a dark-coloured baseball cap and was described as unshaven.

Loyer is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached.
