Two rescued, one missing, after boat capsized in Eagle River, Labrador

Cartwright, Newfoundland and Labrador – At approximately 12:40 p.m. on July 12, 2018, Cartwright RCMP received a call from Cloud Salmon Lodge reporting that a boat had capsized in Eagle River and that three men were in the water.

A guide from Eagle River Trout Lodge, who happened to be in the same area, assisted with rescuing two of the men.

Cartwright RCMP police officers responded and were supported in their search by Canadian Coast Guard and Canadian Armed Forces helicopters. The RCMP thanks the community members and employees of local fish camps who also assisted. Search efforts are continuing, as the third man remains missing. Occupational Health and Safety investigators are also engaged.
