Flower’s Cove RCMP seize ATVs from underage drivers and charge parents

Flower’s Cove, Newfoundland and Labrador – On October 3, 2018, at approximately 4:30 p.m., police stopped an ATV for operating the vehicle in the middle of the road on Route 430. The driver was a 12-year-old boy from Anchor Point.

At approximately 8:30 p.m. the following evening, police stopped a second ATV on Route 430 after the 14-year-old driver became stuck in a bog hole while trying to avoid police.

In both cases, charges were laid against the youths’ parents under the Motorized Snow Vehicle and ATV Act for allowing a youth to operate an ATV while under the age of 16 years old.

Both ATVs were impounded.
