Canmore RCMP apprehend suspect following a pursuit

Canmore, Alberta – A male is in police custody following a pursuit through the community of Canmore on November 4. The incident began at approximately 3:30 PM when police were called to a residential break and enter in Harvey Heights. Prior to police arrival, the suspect departed the residence in a Toyota Camry.

Responding officers located the suspect vehicle which refused to stop. Officers pursued the suspect eastbound onto Highway 1 and through Canmore.

During the pursuit, the suspect lost control of the vehicle and drove into the ditch where he was apprehended with the assistance of a police service dog.

The 36 year old Calgary-area resident has been treated for non-serious injuries. Charges are pending including, but not limited to, possession of a stolen vehicle, break & enter and flight from police.
