Moncton man arrested after seizure of illegal cigarettes and drugs

Petitcodiac, New Brunswick – Riverview RCMP have arrested a Moncton man following a seizure of contraband cigarettes and a quantity of drugs from a vehicle.

On November 2, 2018, just after 3:30 p.m., the Riverview RCMP detachment responded to a report of a single-vehicle collision near Petitcodiac, N.B.

Police arrived on scene to find a vehicle in a ditch on the Wheaton Settlement Road. The driver, the lone occupant of the vehicle, was not seriously injured.

Police observed what was believed to be contraband tobacco inside the vehicle. After a consequent search, they seized more than 60,000 contraband cigarettes and a quantity of what is believed to be crystal methamphetamine tablets.

A 43-year-old man from Moncton was arrested. He was remanded into custody and will appear in Moncton Provincial Court at a later date.
