RCMP investigate sudden death in Inuvik, Northwest Territories

Inuvik, Northwest Territories – Inuvik RCMP responded to a report of a sudden death near Inuvik on Saturday, November 3rd.

At approximately 9:00 pm on November 3rd, Inuvik RCMP received a call for service that a deceased person had been located in an area near Big Lake, just outside of Inuvik, NT.

RCMP attended the scene and located a deceased male on a trail in the area.

NT RCMP Major Crimes Unit and Forensic Identification Services travelled to Inuvik to assist with the investigation.

Identification of the deceased has not been confirmed. The RCMP are working with the NWT Coroner Services in an investigation into the sudden death. This is an ongoing investigation.

The RCMP is aware that there is some speculation as to the identity of the person, however, as they have not been identified, there is no further information at this time.
