Fort Saskatchewan RCMP arrest five people for armed robbery

Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta – Today at approximately 2:45 p.m., Fort Saskatchewan RCMP responded to a call of an armed robbery at the Telus store on 94th Street.

Two males entered the store and attempted to steal cell phones and were confronted by an employee. During the confrontation the employee suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries after the males fled the scene in a vehicle. The victim was later transported to hospital. No one else was injured.

A keen citizen noticed the suspects running into the car and were able to provide the police with a license plate. Fort Saskatchewan Police Dog Services (PDS) were in the area and spotted the vehicle involved.

The vehicle was followed into Strathcona County and with assistance from Strathcona RCMP the vehicle was stopped without incident.

Five people have been arrested and taken into custody where they remain. Charges are currently pending.

RCMP would like to thank the citizen who reported this suspicious activity to police. This tip allowed officers to respond quickly and take these individuals into custody.
