RCMP release identity of deceased male found in Inuvik area, Edmonton Police to conduct investigation

Inuvik, Northwest Territories – Northwest Territories are releasing the identity of the male that was found deceased near Big Lake, in the Inuvik area on November 3 as the NWT Coroner Services have identified them.

Richard Binder Jr, 35 years of age, from Inuvik, has been identified as the deceased male.

RCMP issued a call for public assistance in locating Mr. Binder Jr. Mr. Binder Jr was wanted on several outstanding warrants.. RCMP received several tips for locations in the community in the days following the request. The RCMP thank the community for their help.

Northwest Territories RCMP are requesting an external investigation into the disappearance of Mr. Binder Jr. He was last in contact with RCMP on October 25 at approximately 8:30 pm. He was reported missing on October 28 and a request for public assistance in locating Mr. Binder Jr was issued October 29.

Edmonton Police Services will conduct the external investigation.
