Lethbridge Police investigating sudden death after early morning fire

Lethbridge, Alberta – Lethbridge Police are investigating a sudden death at a downtown apartment building following an early morning fire.

On November 10, 2018 at approximately 4:23 a.m. Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services responded to a fire alarm at the Landmark building along the 500 block of 6 Street South. Three stations and 22 firefighters attended. Fire crews extinguished the fire, which was isolated to one unit. The body of one person was located inside.

Due to extensive smoke, numerous occupants were initially displaced from the building. Victim/Witness Services attended to assist and all occupants have now returned to their homes. No other injuries were reported.

Investigation by police and a Lethbridge Fire investigator is ongoing.

There is no further information available for release at this time. An update will be provided when possible.
