UPDATE: RCMP Major Crimes Unit North Seeking Dash Cam Footage in Homicide Case

Strathcona County, Alberta – RCMP Major Crimes Unit North continues to investigate the homicide of Gursumeet Singh Brar and is seeking public assistance to further the investigation.

The RCMP are seeking dash cam footage from the area of Sherwood Drive between Township Road 522 and Wye Road on November 28, 2018 at approximately 7:00 p.m. It is believed that a vehicle of interest, a black 2012 Ford F150 may be on video dashcam, and that is the Major Crimes Unit’s focus.

RCMP Major Crimes Unit North on scene at suspicious death *update*

Strathcona County, Alberta – RCMP Major Crimes North has identified the deceased as 25-year-old Gursumeet Singh Brar of Sherwood Park.

An autopsy was conducted earlier today at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Edmonton and the cause of death was determined to be homicide.

The investigation is ongoing with the assistance of the RCMP Forensic Identification Section and Strathcona County General Investigations Section.

RCMP advise there is no risk to public safety.

RCMP Major Crimes Unit North on scene at suspicious death

Strathcona County, Alberta – The Strathcona County RCMP responded this morning at 8:34 to a 911 complaint of a deceased male on a rural property at Highway 14 and Range Road 231 in Strathcona County. Circumstances surrounding the death of the male appeared to be suspicious, and the Major Crimes Unit has since been deployed to take carriage of the investigation.

An autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Edmonton.

The investigation is in the preliminary stages only, and an update will be provided following the autopsy.
