Brickton, Annapolis County, Nova Scotia – At 2:35 p.m. on December 4, pickup truck heading West on Highway 1 collided head-on with a small eastbound car that had veered across the centre line of the road.
The driver of the car was seriously injured and was transported via ambulance to hospital, and later transported via LifeFlight to Halifax. The 70-year-old woman from Lawrencetown, Annapolis Co. died in hospital later that evening. She was the only occupant in the vehicle. The driver of the pickup truck and her two small children sustained minor injuries.
RCMP members on scene requested a Traffic Analyst attend to examine the scene for evidence. Highway 1 between Exits 18 and 19 were closed until approximately 10:30 p.m. last evening and has since been re-opened. The investigation into the cause of the collision is ongoing.
Our thoughts are with the victim’s family at this difficult time.
