Yellowknife RCMP lay charges in break and enter and assault in Williams Avenue area

Yellowknife, Northwest Territories – Yellowknife RCMP responded to a domestic call for service in a multi-unit dwelling in the 600 block Williams Avenue area at approximately 8:20 pm on Monday, December 31, 2018.

A female in her mid-30’s had allegedly been attacked after a male suspect gained entry to the unit by breaking into the unit and then entering. The male attacked the female with a weapon and then fled the scene before police arrived.

The female was transported by Yellowknife Fire Division Emergency Medical Response Unit to Stanton Territorial Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. The female has since been released.

RCMP began an investigation and arrested the male suspect within a couple hours of the attack.

RCMP have charged Tariq St. Croix, 24 years of age, with attempted murder, break and enter and for three breaches; failure to comply probation x 2, recognizance x 1. He has been remanded to custody pending his next court appearance on January 4.

The RCMP is seeking information from potential witnesses of this occurrence.
