Whitecourt RCMP and Police Dog Services make arrests after break and enter

Woodlands County, Alberta – On the 2nd day of January, 2019, Whitecourt RCMP responded to a break and enter in progress to an oilfield site near the rural area of Blue Ridge. Police observed two suspects actively burning the coating off of copper wire cables and initiated an arrest. The first male was taken into custody without incident and the second male ran into the tree line, where he was taken into custody with the assistance of the RCMP Police Dog Service.

Gregory Bader (41) of Calgary has been charged w the following offences:

  • Break and enter and committing 348(1)(b) CC
  • Possession of break-in instruments 351(1) CC
  • Possession of property obtained by crime less than $5,000 354(1)(a) CC
  • Mischief over $5,000 430(3) CC
  • Mischief under $5,000 430(4) CC
  • Fail to comply w Probation Order 733.1(1) CC

Bader was released from custody and is due in Whitecourt Provincial Court on January 22, 2019.

Fernando Barrett (41) of Leduc County has been charged w the following offences:

  • Resisting a peace officer 129(a) CC
  • Break and enter and committing 348(1)(b) CC
  • Possession of break-in instruments 351(1) CC
  • Possession of property obtained by crime less than $5,000 354(1)(a) CC
  • Mischief over $5,000 430(3) CC
  • Mischief under $5,000 430(4) CC
  • Fail to comply w Probation Order 733.1(1) CC
  • Fail to comply w Probation Order 733.1(1) CC
  • Warrants executed on behalf of Swan Hills RCMP

Barrett was released from custody and is due in Whitecourt Provincial Court on January 22, 2019.

As this matter is now before the courts no further information will be provided.
