Whitecourt RCMP make arrests after break and enter

Woodlands County, Alberta – On the 1st day of January, 2019, Whitecourt RCMP responded to a Break and Enter in progress to a gas plant near the rural area of Windfall. Police were confronted by a Jeep that had been stolen out of Edson. RCMP used a police vehicle to prevent the occupants from escaping. The two occupants of the Jeep were taken into custody without any further incident.

Stephen Pond (43) of Edson has been charged with the following offences:

  • Break and enter w intent 348(1)(a) CC
  • Flight from peace officer 320.17 CC
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 354(1)(a) CC
  • Possession of break-in instruments 351(1) CC
  • (x3) Fail to comply w Recognizance 145(3) CC
  • Operate MV w/o subsisting registration 52(1)(a) TSA
  • Drive uninsured MV on Highway 54(1)(a) TSA
  • Drive while unauthorized 94(2) TSA

Pond was remanded into custody for a court appearance today in Edmonton.

Jonathan Croteau (31) of Edson has been charged with the following offences:

  • Break and enter w intent 348(1)(a) CC
  • Flight from peace officer 320.17 CC
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 354(1)(a) CC
  • Possession of break-in instruments 351(1) CC

Croteau was released from custody and is due in Whitecourt Provincial Court on January 22, 2019.

As this matter is now before the courts no further information will be released.
