Officer Involved Shooting in Winnipeg

Winnipeg, Manitoba – On Wednesday, January 9, 2019, at approximately 8:35 p.m. Winnipeg Police Service General Patrol officers responded to a report of an assault with a weapon in the area of McLeod Ave. and Raleigh St.

A pursuit was initiated as the suspects fled the area. Due to the reckless and dangerous speeds of the suspect vehicle the pursuit was aborted.

Additional police units located the suspect vehicle stopped in traffic at the intersection of Panet Rd. and Nairn Ave. Police initiated a containment block, however the suspect vehicle rammed through. At this time officers discharged their firearms to stop the threat of bodily harm/death to them and other police officers.

The suspects again fled and a second pursuit then led to the area of Marion St. and Archibald St. The suspect vehicle left the roadway and began driving along railway tracks. Three suspects, a female and two males, were subsequently apprehended along the railway lines and taken into custody.
