Ponoka RCMP charge four males with possession of stolen property

Ponoka, Alberta – On Jan. 8, 2019, at approximately 8:00 a.m., Ponoka RCMP responded to a report of a possible assault on 55 Street in Ponoka.

Police attended and determined an adult male victim was assaulted, and four male suspects had fled. Three of the male suspects were located and arrested at a nearby convenience store. The fourth adult male was arrested at a local residence a short time later.

Further investigation lead police to obtain a search warrant for the same residence and several items were seized including:

  • Sawed off shot gun
  • 60 grams of methamphetamine
  • Drug paraphernalia
  • Quantity of stolen clothing

Neil Ritchie Rain (21) of Edmonton has been charged with:

  • Possession of stolen property under $5,000
  • Assault
  • Disguise with intent
  • Unlawful possession of a firearm
  • Unlawful possession of a prohibited firearm
  • Failure to comply with a recognizance (x4)

Jaden Michael Omeasoo (22) of Ponoka has been charged with:

  • Possession of stolen property under $5,000
  • Unlawful possession of a firearm
  • Unlawful possession of a prohibited firearm
  • Failure to comply with a recognizance (x4)

Rain and Omeasoo have been remanded into custody and will be appearing in Ponoka Provincial Court on Jan. 18, 2019.

Tyrell Lightning (23) of Maskwacis, has been charged with possession of stolen property under $5,000. He was released from custody with conditions, and will be appearing in Ponoka Provincial Court on Mar. 1, 2019.

A 15-year-old male was also charged with:

  • Possession of stolen property
  • Failure to comply with probation order(x2)

He cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, and was released from custody with conditions. He will be appearing in Ponoka Provincial Court on Mar. 13, 2019.
