Inuvik RCMP seize suspected drugs, cash, and weapons during search warrant

Inuvik, Northwest Territories – On January 19th, 2019 Inuvik RCMP executed a search warrant as a residence in Inuvik, NT and arrested an adult male for Possession of a controlled substance, weapons offences, and failing to comply with a Probation Order and seized what is suspected to be drugs and a large sum of Canadian currency.

Inuvik RCMP arrested 27 year old David HEVIA of Inuvik, NT in his residence. During the search warrant police located what they believe to be crack cocaine, drug paraphernalia, bear spray, and over $7,500 in cash.

Mr. HEVIA was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, possessing a weapon contrary to a court order and Failing to comply with Probation. Mr. HEVIA was held in custody and scheduled to appear in Yellowknife court on January 23rd, 2019.

During the search warrant police located what they believe to be crack cocaine, drug paraphernalia, bear spray, and over $7,500 in cash.

No member of the public or police were injured during the execution of the search warrant and police are not seeking any other suspects in relation to this investigation.
