RCMP Confirm Fatalities in Downed Aircraft

 Wha’Ti, Northwest Territories – RCMP can now confirm two fatalities as a result of a downed aircraft that was reported missing yesterday morning.

The crash site, located between Behchoko and Wha’Ti, remains under restricted access due to the continuing investigation by the Transportation Safety Board (TSB).

All investigational inquiries can be directed to the TSB and those pertaining to the fatalities can be sent to the attention of the NWT Coroner’s office.

The families of the deceased have been notified, however further details on the victims and the aircraft will not be released.

The RCMP wishes to extend deepest condolences to those who have been adversely affected by this tragedy.

The investigation into a missing aircraft continues.

Search efforts yesterday resulted in the location of a crash site believed to involve the previously reported missing aircraft.

All occupants on board are believed to be deceased and the RCMP is now working together with the NWT Coroner’s Office and the Transportation Safety Board.

As the investigation remains on-going, and out of respect for the families of those on board, no further information is being released at this time.

Wha’Ti, Northwest Territories – Northwest Territories RCMP are investigating after receiving a report of a missing aircraft.

Earlier today, an airline reported that one of their flights from Yellowknife to Wha’Ti did not arrive as scheduled.

JRCC has been engaged and between the two organizations multiple resources are being deployed in efforts to locate the missing aircraft. Inclement weather is currently playing a factor in the search efforts and the RCMP wish to remind the general public not to engage in any self-deployed searches.
