Armed robbery at North Town Centre Tim Hortons in Nanaimo

Nanaimo, BC – At approximately 11:30 PM on Thursday February 7th, 2019 an armed robbery with a firearm was reported at the Tim Hortons franchise located at 4575 Uplands Road, located at the North Town Centre Mall. Officers including Police Dog Services responded immediately to the incident however they were not able to locate the suspect. No employees were injured during the robbery.

Employees and several witnesses reported seeing a male approach the till and demand an employee turn over money from the till. The appeared to have a handgun tucked into the waistband of his pants. After an undisclosed amount of cash was handed over, the suspect ran out the front door and was last seen running towards Marks Work WareHouse, located at the intersection of Uplands Drive and Oliver Road. Of note and at this time unknown if it is linked to the robbery, was a black sedan style vehicle seen circling through the parking lot several times, just prior to the suspect entering the business.

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 5 ft. 10 to 6 ft. tall, with a slim build and wearing a mask which concealed the lower half of his face. He was wearing dark clothing which consisted of a black hoodie with tan trim, black gloves, baggy pants and dark skater shoes, with white trim along the base.
