Weymouth man charged with Aggravated Assault following North Kentville stabbing

North Kentville, Nova Scotia – A Weymouth man has been charged with Aggravated Assault following a stabbing in North Kentville yesterday.

At approximately 3:30 a.m. Kings District RCMP responded to a report of a stabbing inside a home on Charles St. in North Kentville. The 21-year-old male victim was located inside the residence with serious but non life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital by EHS.

Colton Leigh Thibault, 23 years old, of Weymouth, was arrested outside the residence without incident and was brought to the New Minas RCMP detachment, where he assaulted two police officers. Thibault has been charged with:

Aggravated Assault

Two counts of Assaulting a Peace Officer

Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose

Breach of Probation

Thibault and the 21-year-old male victim are known to each other.

Thibault appeared in Kentville Provincial Court this morning, he was released on conditions and will be appearing in Kentville Provincial Court on March 21 at 09:30 a.m. The investigation is ongoing by the RCMP Southwest Nova Major Crime Unit.
