One man is in custody following incident involving firearm in Saskatoon

Saskatoon, Saskatchewan – Saskatoon Police were called to a condominium in the 100 block of 3rd Street East at approximately 12:00 a.m., February 12, 2019. There were reports that a 27 year old man had threatened another man inside of the building with a rifle. Following the confrontation, the armed suspect refused to exit his residence. The Crisis Negotiating Team attended the residence along with the Tactical Support Unit, the Saskatoon Fire Department and Medavie Health Services. Access to a portion of 2nd Avenue was blocked off to vehicle traffic and pedestrians. At approximately 8:00 a.m., the suspect was taken into custody without further incident.

No one was harmed during the event and traffic restrictions have been lifted. The two men involved in this incident are known to each other.


A 27 year old Saskatoon man remains in Police custody. Firearm-related charges are pending as Detectives from the Targeted Enforcement Unit investigate.
