Bay St George RCMP responded to multiple motor vehicle collisions in whiteout conditions

Stephenville, Newfoundland and Labrador – Yesterday, between 3:15 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Bay St George RCMP were called to respond to five separate motor vehicle collisions in the Stephenville area.

One collision involved an ambulance that was responding to a collision. Whiteout conditions caused little to no visibility for drivers. Fortunately, no serious injuries occurred. The paramedics involved in the collision were treated and released for minor injuries.

Another collision occurred on the Trans-Canada Highway near Gallants. A tractor trailer had jack-knifed across the roadway and two passenger vehicles collided into it.

A number of other fender bender collisions occurred in addition to those that were reported yesterday as police continue to receive reports today.

RCMP NL encourages motorists to use extreme caution with adverse weather and to avoid travel if possible during these times.
