Richmond RCMP Investigating Morning Shooting

Richmond, BC – Richmond RCMP is investigating after being called to shooting on Mitchell Island earlier this morning and a vehicle fire which followed.

Just after 9:00 a.m. this morning, March 12, Richmond RCMP were called to a training facility in the 11000-block of Twigg Place on Mitchell Island, for a report that a man had been shot. A witness reported seeing a man, dressed in black fleeing the area on foot.

Upon arrival at the scene, frontline officers discovered a 25-year-old man suffering from serious, potentially life threatening injuries. He has been transported to a local area hospital and is receiving treatment.

A short time later, Richmond RCMP received a report of a vehicle on fire in the 5600-block of No. 7 Road, Richmond. At this time police cannot confirm whether the shooting and vehicle fire are related, however the shooting is not believed to a random incident.
