Jasper RCMP respond to aggravated assault; public’s assistance needed

Jasper, Alberta – On March 30, 2019 at approximately 12:30 AM, Jasper RCMP and Jasper Emergency Medical Services were dispatched to the Royal Canadian Legion after a male had been severely assaulted outside the establishment.

On scene, police located a 36 year old male who was suffering from serious facial injuries. Multiple witnesses indicated to police that an unknown male hit the victim in the face with a glass and then proceeded to throw the victim to the ground and repeatedly kick him while he was down to the ground. The suspect then fled the scene after bystanders pulled him away from the victim.

Police believe that the attack was unprovoked and was not the result of a previous altercation between the victim and the suspect.

The victim was transported to the hospital by Jasper Emergency Medical Services with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect is described as follows:

– Caucasian male between the age of 20 and 30 years old

– 6’0″, well-built

– Bald, scruffy beard

– Wearing a light grey hoodie, black peacoat, blue jeans and work boots
