Fort Saskatchewan RCMP Traffic/Crime Reduction Unit Seize Firearm

Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta – On Apr. 7, 2019, the Fort Saskatchewan RCMP Traffic/Crime Reduction Unit were conducting proactive patrols in the downtown area.

As a result of a traffic stop, members seized bear mace, brass knuckles, suspected methamphetamine and oxycontin. A safe was also located within the vehicle and a search warrant was executed. This resulted in the seizure of a loaded 9mm Smith and Wesson Handgun with prohibited over-capacity magazines.

Brandon Voisey (25) of Sherwood Park, Alta., was arrested and charged with 22 Criminal Code offences, some of which include:

• Possession of a Prohibited Weapon

• Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose

• Unauthorized Possession of a Restricted Firearm

• Possession of a Controlled Substance contrary to the CDSA
