Drugs seized; trafficking charge laid in Whitehorse

Whitehorse, Yukon – As a result of this investigation, Whitehorse RCMP officers seized approximately 40 grams of crack cocaine.
At 8:50 a.m. on Thursday, April 18th, 2019, Whitehorse RCMP officers responded to a complaint of a man passed out in a vehicle on Rogers Street in Whitehorse.

The lone occupant of the vehicle, 29-year-old Derek Vince Patterson of Mayo, was arrested for possession for the purpose of trafficking, prohibited driving, failing to comply with a probation order and obstruction.

As a result of this investigation, officers seized approximately 40 grams of crack cocaine.

Mr. Patterson appeared in Whitehorse Territorial Court at 1:00 p.m. today. He was released on conditions, with his next court appearance scheduled for May 1, 2019.
