Wood Buffalo RCMP traffic stop leads to seizure of drugs

Fort McMurray, Alberta – On April 27, 2019, at approximately 2:00 p.m., Wood Buffalo RCMP conducted a traffic stop on Franklin Avenue in Fort McMurray. The vehicle description was believed to be related to an ongoing theft investigation. As result of the roadside investigation, the driver of the vehicle was arrested for possession of a controlled substance.

A search of the vehicle was conducted and revealed approximately 60 grams of suspected cocaine, various drug paraphernalia, three cell phones, as well as over $2,200 in Canadian currency.

Matthew Jared Warcimaga (19) of Fort McMurray was charged with:

• Possession for the purpose of trafficking

• Possession of property obtained by crime for the purpose of trafficking under $5,000

A search of the vehicle was conducted and revealed approximately 60 grams of suspected cocaine, various drug paraphernalia, three cell phones, as well as over $2,200 in Canadian currency.

Warcimaga has been released from custody and is to appear in Fort McMurray Provincial Court on May 28, 2019.
