Wood Buffalo RCMP arrest male in structure fire investigation

Fort McMurray, Alberta – On April 29, 2019, Wood Buffalo RCMP and the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo Fire Department responded to a structure fire at a residential home on Beacon Hill Drive in Fort McMurray, Alberta. The fire was deemed suspicious in nature by the RMWB Fire Investigator. No one was injured as a result of the incident.

Joel William Karsten Nickel (26) of Fort McMurray has been charged with:

• Arson – damage to property

• Breaking, entering and committing – Residence

Nickel has been released from custody with conditions and is scheduled to appear in Fort McMurray Provincial Court on May 22, 2019.

Wood Buffalo RCMP and the RMWB Fire Department continue their investigations.
