Fort McMurray, Alberta – An autopsy was completed May 2, 2019 at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Edmonton and the cause of death was determined to be homicide.
The RCMP Major Crimes Unit have arrested Brent Goodridge (22) and Nathan Gordey (22), both of Fort McMurray in relation to this incident. They have been charged with manslaughter, break and enter to commit robbery and forcible confinement with a firearm in the death investigation of Brandon Stevens (20).
Both of the accused were remanded into custody after a judicial hearing and will be appearing in Fort McMurray Provincial Court on May 6, 2019.
The RCMP are not seeking further suspects in relations to this investigation.
As this matter is now before the courts no further information is available.

RCMP Major Crimes investigate death of male at residence
Fort McMurray, Alta. – On April 29, 2019 at approximately 10:40 p.m., Wood Buffalo RCMP responded to a report of a home invasion in the Timberlea neighbourhood.
Upon arrival police located a deceased male inside the residence. Four people were taken into custody without incident.
The RCMP Major Crimes Unit along with Wood Buffalo RCMP and RCMP Forensic Identification Services continue to investigate.
An autopsy is expected later this week at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Edmonton.
