Thieves put dreams of downtown micro-brewery on hold

Nanaimo, BC – Just when the end zone was in sight for the owners of a start up micro-brewery in Nanaimo, thieves had other plans stealing most of their specialized brewing equipment and day to day tools. The owners of the Cliffside Brewing Company, located at 11 Cliff St told police the break most likely took place sometime overnight on Thursday May 2nd, 2019. When the owners arrived for work in the morning the side door to the business was wide open and pry marks were visible.

Jack Eubank, one of the owners told investigators it appears suspects forced their way in through a side door. Beside stealing their brewing equipment and power tools, thieves also made off with their video surveillance camera.

This really hurts and will definitely set us back, said Eubank after surveying the damage to his business. Before the break in we were about four months from opening. The tools are replaceable but the equipment taken is designed specifically for brewing. Some of it hasn’t even been used yet. The brewing machine alone is worth at $6500.
