Conception Bay South man charged with accessing child pornography

St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador – On May 14, 2019, the Integrated Internet Child Exploitation Team (IICE) arrested and charged 56-year-old Barry Bowers of Conception Bay South in relation to a child pornography investigation which began in January of 2019. Mr. Bowers was arrested without incident and charged with Accessing Child Pornography.

Mr. Bowers was held in custody and appeared in St. John’s Provincial Court on May 14th. He has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court again on May 26, 2019.

Police once again encourage youth to be cautious of whom they communicate with and what they share online. Cybertip.ca, Protectkidsonline.ca and Deal.org are excellent online resources for caregivers and youth to learn about online safety and many other topics relevant to today’s youth.
