Edmonton Homicide Section investigating suspicious death; one male in custody

Edmonton, Alberta – The EPS Homicide Section is investigating the suspicious death of a 36-year-old male.

At approximately 6:05 p.m. yesterday, Wednesday, May 22, 2019, police were called to the area of 167 Avenue and 76 Street on the report of a weapons complaint involving several males. As officers were dispatched to the area, a second call to 9-1-1 was received regarding a collision involving numerous parked vehicles approximately a block away.

When officers arrived at the scene of the collision, they located a 36-year-old male with injuries consistent with an altercation. EMS treated the male; however he succumbed to his injuries on scene.

A few hours later, a 27-year-old male believed to have been involved in the altercation was taken into custody. No additional suspects are being sought at this time, as Homicide Section continues to investigate.

An autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow morning, Friday, May 24, 2019.
