RCMP La Loche: Aggravated Assault investigation underway after man attacked with knife while sleeping

La Loche, Saskatchewan – On Jun 2 at 6 :08 am, the La Loche detachment members received a call from a residence in the town of La Loche.

An adult male had broken into a home and assaulted another adult male with a knife while the victim was sleeping in the residence. The victim was stabbed multiple times in the face and upper torso, including part of his ear being cut off. The victim was later air lifted to Saskatoon for treatment.

The suspect fled the home after the assault and was arrested a short time later and held in custody until his first court appearance this morning.

Charged is Austin Lee Herman (dob 1966-06-26) with the following:

Aggravated Assault- 268(2) CC

Assault- 266 CC

Assault with a weapon- 267(a) CC

Break and enter to commit an indictable offence – 348(1)(b) CC

Fail to comply with Judges Undertaking – 145(3) CC X 5

Mischief under $5000 – 430(4) CC

Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose – 88(2) CC X 2
