Man sentenced to life in prison for second-degree murder of his spouse

Dundee, New Brunswick – A northern New Brunswick man has been sentenced to life in prison in connection with the death of his spouse.

On July 28, 2018, members of the Northeast District RCMP were called to a home on Splude Street in Dundee, N.B., to conduct a well-being check on a 54-year-old woman. Police discovered bones on the property, which were later identified as the remains of Brigitte Pelletier.

On July 29, 56-year-old Gilles Moreau was charged with first-degree murder in her death. He later pleaded guilty to second-degree murder.

On June 3, 2019, Gilles Moreau appeared in the Court of Queen’s Bench in Campbellton and was sentenced to life in prison without eligibility of parole for 15 years.
