Nanaimo, BC – The Nanaimo RCMP is investigating two incidents of women having their buttocks grabbed as they walked along Bowen Road. The two incidents took place within ten minutes of each other and occurred at approximately 11:30 AM on Monday May 27th, 2019. Neither woman was injured and both were able to provide a description of the suspect.
The first incident involved a 21-year female walking through the crosswalk at the intersection of Bowen Road at Dufferin Crescent. The suspect male approached on foot, grabbed her buttocks then ran off northbound along Bowen Road. The second incident occurred just ten minutes later and involved a 32-year mother pushing her baby in a stroller. As she passed the Husky Station, near Meredith Road at Bowen Road, the male suspect walked by, grabbed her buttocks then left the area running northbound along Bowen Road.
“The descriptions are similar enough to lead investigators to believe both incidents were carried out by the same individual,” said Constable Gary O’Brien of the Nanaimo RCMP.
In the first incident, the male was described as possibly Indigenous or of Spanish, descent approximately 5 ft. 6 slim build, with short hair and brown eyes. He was wearing brown pants, light coloured shirt and was carrying a black packsack with a diamond on it. The second incident involved a male with short black hair, also thought to be either Indigenous or Spanish, wearing a white t-shirt, tan khaki pants and carrying a black packsack.
The investigations are continuing and if anyone has information on either of these two incidents, please call the Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345. If you wish to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at www.nanaimocrimestoppers.com or call 1-800-222-8477.
