Airdrie RCMP lay attempt to commit murder and arson charges in domestic violence incident

Airdrie, Alberta – Airdrie RCMP have charged a male with attempt to commit murder, arson and several other criminal code charges after a domestic violence investigation.

On June 9, 2019 at approximately 8:05 p.m., Airdrie RCMP and Airdrie Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at an apartment located on Willowbrook Road in Airdrie, Alta. The caller also reported that a woman was seriously injured. The fire was quickly extinguished and the female was located with severe life altering injuries. She was transported to hospital in critical condition however her condition has since been upgraded to stable.

Investigation led to a male being arrested a short time later. He has been charged with the following offences:

• Attempted Murder

• Carry a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose

• Arson

• Possession of Stolen Property x 2

• Possession of Methamphetamine

• Possession of a weapon while prohibited

• Breach of recognizance (x4)

The accused remains in custody and will be appearing in Airdrie Provincial Court by CCTV on June 20, 2019 at 9:30 a.m.
