Parkland RCMP on scene at collision – traffic diverted

Parkland County, Alberta – The RCMP are currently on scene at a two vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 16a and Range Road 20. Eastbound traffic is being diverted and motorists are requested to avoid the area.

At 12:29 p.m. today, Parkland RCMP responded to a two vehicle collision. A southbound pick up truck travelling on Range Road 20 collided with an eastbound SUV.

The male driver of the pick up truck was not injured. The male driver of the SUV was transported via STARS air ambulance to an Edmonton hospital while the female passenger is being transported via ground ambulance. The extent of the injuries to the SUV occupants is not known.

The RCMP collision analyst is en route to the collision to conduct an investigation. Eastbound traffic is being diverted on Highway 16a from the intersection of Highway 16 until Range Road 15. Traffic on Range Road 20 is unable to cross Highway 16a in either direction.

All factors of the collision are being investigated although preliminary investigation reveals that neither weather conditions nor alcohol are a contributing factor. An update will be provided when the situation changes.
