Ponoka, Alberta – On June 13, 2019 Ponoka RCMP responded to a complaint of a serious two vehicle collision involving a motorcycle. Red Deer Traffic and Ponoka Integrated Traffic Unit attended to assist.
The collision was dispatched at 1:25 p.m. A car was travelling northbound on Highway 815 and turning west onto Township Road 420 when it collided with a motorcycle travelling southbound on Highway 815.
A Red Deer RCMP collision analyst attended the collision to conduct an investigation and traffic was diverted for approximately two hours.
The driver of the car was not injured. The motorcycle rider, a 28-year-old male, was seriously injured and transported to the hospital via STARS air ambulance. During the evening of June 14, the motorcyclist died in the hospital as a result of injuries sustained in the collision.
The collision remains under investigation.
