La Ronge RCMP – Fifth arrest in the Air Ronge shooting

La Ronge , Saskatchewan – The Prince Albert RCMP General Investigation Section and Prince Albert RCMP made a fifth arrest regarding the incident that occurred on January 13, 2019 when several shots were fired at a residence in the Air Ronge area.

Joshua Lariviere was arrested today at the Prince Albert Correctional Centre while he was already in custody for separate matters.

He has been charged charged with:

Reckless Discharge of Firearm – Section 244.2(a) of the Criminal Code;

Discharge Firearm with Intent – Section 244 of the Criminal Code;

Criminal negligence with a firearm causing bodily harm – Section 221 of the Criminal Code;

Participation in a criminal organization – Section 467.11(1) of the Criminal Code;

Use a Firearm while Committing the Indictable Offence of Reckless Discharge of a Firearm – Section 85(1)(a) of the Criminal Code;

Unlawfully causing bodily harm – Section 269 of the Criminal Code;

Assault – Section 267(a) of the Criminal Code.

Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose – Section 88 of the Criminal Code;

Careless use of a firearm – Section 86(1) of the Criminal Code.

Joshua Lariviere will appear in court at the La Ronge Provincial Court on Friday, July 5, 2019 at 9:30 a.m.

The Prince Albert RCMP General Investigation Section and Beauval RCMP made a third arrest regarding the incident that occurred on January 13, 2019 when several shots were fired at a residence in the Air Ronge area.

Tristan Lariviere was arrested on June 27, 2019, in Pinehouse, SK, and charged with:

Reckless Discharge of Firearm – Section 244.2(1)(a) of the Criminal Code;

Discharge Firearm with Intent – Section 244 of the Criminal Code;

Criminal negligence with a firearm causing bodily harm – Section 221 of the Criminal Code;

Participation in a criminal organization – Section 467.11(1) of the Criminal Code;

Use a Firearm while Committing the Indictable Offence of Reckless Discharge of a Firearm – Section 85(1)(a) of the Criminal Code;

Assault – Section 267(a) of the Criminal Code;

Possess a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose – Section 88 of the Criminal Code;

Unlawfully causing bodily harm – Section 269 of the Criminal Code;

Use a Firearm in a Careless Manner – Section 86(1) of the Criminal Code.

Tristan Lariviere will next appear in court at the La Ronge Provincial Court on Monday, July 8, 2019 at 9:30 a.m.

A fourth suspect has been identified and charged in relation to this incident, but his current location is unknown.

La Ronge RCMP requires the help of the public to locate Wolfgang Amadeus McKenzie, from La Ronge. He is described as a 31-year-old male, of medium built, measuring 5’8”, with dark hair and brown eyes. He was last seen by police two months ago in La Ronge.

La Ronge RCMP – Additional arrest

The Prince Albert RCMP General Investigation Section and La Ronge RCMP made an additional arrest regarding the incident that occurred on January 13, 2019 when several shots were fired at a residence in the Air Ronge area.

Matt Kurt Misponas was arrested yesterday while he was already in custody for separate matters.

He is now facing 15 charges related to his participation in the January 13, 2019 shooting, including:

Unlawful discharge of a firearm, Sect 244.2(a) CC

Criminal negligence with a firearm causing bodily harm, Sect 221 CC

Participation in a criminal organization, Sect 467.11(1) CC

Assault, Sect 267(a) CC

Unlawfully causing bodily harm, Sect 269 CC

Possession of a prohibited weapon. Sect 92(2) CC

Matt Kurt Misponas will next appear in court via video in La Ronge Provincial Court on Friday June 21, 2019 at 9:30 a.m.

RCMP La Ronge – ARRESTS MADE

The Prince Albert General Investigation Service has been investigating an incident that occurred on Jan 13, 2019 when several shoots were fired at a residence on the Air Ronge First Nation. There were several people inside the residence at the time of the shooting and a five-year-old boy was stuck in the foot while inside the residence.

At this point in the investigation, an 18 male has been charged with the following:

Reckless Discharge of Firearm – S.244.2 CC

Discharge Firearm with Intent – S.244 CC

Criminal Negligence Causing Bodily harm – S.221 CC

Participate in a Criminal Organization – 467.11(1) CC

Use a Firearm while Committing the Indictable Offence of Reckless Discharge of a Firearm– S.85(1)(a) CC

Assault with a Weapon – S.267(a)

Possess a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose – S.88 CC

Unlawfully Cause Bodily Harm by shooting – S.269 CC

Use a Firearm in a Careless Manner – S. 86(1) CC

The accused was under the age of 18 at the time of the incident, and as such, we will not be releasing his name. The youth made his first court appearance this morning at Provincial court in La Ronge and will make his next court appearance on June 20 at 9:00 am in La Ronge Provincial Court.

La Ronge RCMP: Firearms discharged at residence; one youth sustained injuries
2019-01-14

On January 13, 2019, at approximately 9:15pm, La Ronge RCMP were dispatched to a report of a firearm being discharged at a residence on the Lac La Ronge Indian Band, SK. Initial investigation has revealed that the residence had been shot at multiple times. Prior to police arrival, the suspects fled the area.

One of the bullets penetrated the walls of the residence and injured a five year-old who was inside at the time of the incident. Injuries sustained by the youth were described as serious but non-life threatening. There were other occupants in the residence at the time of the shooting. No other injuries have been reported.

Upon arrival, police contained the scene and provided first aid to the youth before transporting him to hospital.

RCMP General Investigation Section and the Forensic Identification Section from Prince Albert have been called in to assist. The investigation remains ongoing.
