Athabasca RCMP: Flight From Police/Possession of Stolen Property

Athabasca, Alberta – On July 8, 2019, at approximately 03:00 p.m., Athabasca RCMP were conducting scene security pertaining to another file and spotted a possible stolen vehicle. The suspect vehicle saw the police and slammed on the brakes and went in the other direction. Police located suspect vehicle and tried to stop vehicle, but suspect would not stop. A spike belt was deployed on a rural road South of Athabasca and the driver was arrested along with a female passenger without further incident. The vehicle they were in, a white Dodge truck was stolen as well from a rural property in Athabasca.

Robert William LYSOHIRKA (30) of Athabasca County was charged with the following:

Flight From Police Officer

Possession of stolen property.

The female(34) from Athabasca was charged with the following:

Flight From Police Officer

Possession of stolen property

LYSOHIRKA was release on his own Recognizance with a court date of July 22, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. in Athabasca, Alta.

The female was released with a Promise to Appear for court on September 3, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. in Athabasca, Alta.
