UPDATE 2: Provost RCMP on scene at fatal collision on Highway 600; Male from Macklin, Saskatchewan pronounced deceased

Provost, Alberta – On July 13, 2019 at approximately 2:00 a.m., Provost RCMP responded to a single fatal collision on Highway 600 at the southwest entrance to Provost. Provost RCMP along with a RCMP Collision analyst remained on scene for several hours investigating.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a truck was heading eastbound towards the Town of Provost on Highway 600 and collided with a guard rail at the Airport Road intersection before entering a ditch where both occupants were ejected.

Tragically, a youth male from Macklin, Saskatchewan was pronounced deceased at the scene. A second youth was transported to local hospital with serious life-threatening injuries.

Provost RCMP continue to investigate.

Our thoughts are with the family of the deceased at this time. The name of the deceased will not be released.

Provost, Alta. – RCMP are currently on scene of a single vehicle collision on Highway 600 at the southwest entrance to Provost. Unfortunately, one occupant has died as result of their injuries and the other occupant has been taken to hospital with injuries.

Highway 600 entering and exiting the town limits of Provost will be impassable to traffic for several hours while the collision is investigated with the assistance of an RCMP Collision Analyst. Motorists are advised to take an alternate route.
