Canmore, Alberta – On August 12, 2019, Canmore RCMP arrested a semi truck driver for impaired driving related offences after receiving 911 calls from concerned citizens.
At 11:46 a.m., Canmore RCMP received a 911 call for a possible impaired driver swerving all over the road westbound on Highway 1. Police located the semi truck and became suspicious that the driver had consumed alcohol. The male driver provided a sample of his breath into an approved screening device and failed the test. He was subsequently arrested with impaired operation of a conveyance and transported to the Canmore Detachment where he provided additional samples of his breath which showed a blood alcohol concentration that was more than double the legal limit. His licence was suspended.
The investigation revealed the tractor-trailer was loaded.
The accused male was released for court on September 18, 2019.
The name of the accused will not be released as the information has not been sworn yet.
RCMP officers continue to be out in every day and night in an attempt to locate and remove impaired drivers from our roads. The RCMP encourage you to call 911 if you suspect a driver is impaired.
