Police asking public for help identifying break and enter suspect; Woman asked for money at knife point in her own home

Edmonton, Alberta – The Edmonton Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance identifying a suspect involved in a recent break and enter in central Edmonton.

At approximately 6:20 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 12, 2019 Downtown Division officers responded to the report of a break and enter at a multi-unit residence in the area of 117 Street and 100 Avenue. It was reported to police that a female was sleeping in her suite when she was awakened by a noise. When she arose to investigate, she reportedly encountered an unknown male who produced a knife and demanded money. The female reported telling the male that she had no money and when the male wasn’t looking, ran from her suite and called police. The male then allegedly left her suite and fled the area on foot with some of her belongings.

The female did not report any injuries.

Investigators are releasing security camera images of a male they believe may be the suspect in hopes that someone may recognize him.

The suspect is described as an Indigenous male in his mid-20s, approximately six feet tall with black gelled spikey hair. He was reportedly wearing black jeans and a blue vest with patches and left behind a black BMX bicycle.
